  • Special 2010 Conference Attendee Issue!

    Welcome to AIC 2010!

It's Incredible, but AIC 2010 is only days away!

The AIC Board of Directors extends our warmest welcome on the eve of this 7th Annual get-together! This special edition of the Scintillion provides some pertinent information that we believe you'll find useful. So, please take a moment and give it a quick review.

In the meantime, we hope your journey to San Jose is safe and uneventful! We know you have other choices for your time this weekend and we sincerely appreciate that you chose to spend it with us!

Complimentary Airport Shuttle Operates Thursday and Sunday

This year, the Advanced Imaging Conference wants to begin making your meeting experience memorable as soon as your plane lands!

Just, look for our shuttle bus at each of the main San Jose International Airport terminals and hop on board for a relaxing ride to the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Our shuttle will be make pick-ups every 45 minutes at each terminal between 4:00PM and 9:00PM, this Thursday, October 21.

Pick up will be available at the Courtesy Shuttle Bus Stop, outside Baggage Claim for each terminal.

We're also offering a free shuttle bus back to the airport on Sunday, October 24, after the conference has ended. Our shuttle will drop you off at either terminal every 45 minutes between 12:00noon and 3:00PM. The shuttle will depart from outside the hotel's main entrance on a first come, first serve basis.

The first shuttle departure on Sunday is at 11:00AM.

    Free Attendee Parking

Both local attendees and those driving to San Jose may park for free at the parking facility adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Hotel during the conference.

    Registration Opens Friday Morning

General registration opens Friday morning, October 22, at 7:30AM for attendees.

Vendor and Sponsor registration opens one half hour earlier, at 7:00AM, Friday morning.

Be sure to register at the Registration Desk, just outside the entrance to the main conference venue (the Santa Clara Convention Center). You'll receive your name badge, welcome packet, a special gift from both Sky & Telescope and Astronomy Magazine and a chance to enter our Sunday morning raffle of (really!!!) fabulous prizes!

    Weekend Sessions Begin Friday Evening

The Weekend Conference sessions begin Friday evening, this year, shortly following the Friday night Dinner (included in your Weekend Session registration fee). The meeting's opener starts at 8:00PM this Friday and will include updates regarding the weekend's activities, short presentations by the conference Sponsors and a tribute to last year's Pleiades Award winner.

    Protect Your Valuables

Please be cautious with your valuables while attending the conference. The AIC cannot (and will not) take responsibility for loss or damage to your possessions during the meeting. For example, we do not recommend you bring valuable equipment (such as lap top computers) into the conference venue or workshop rooms. If you do, we recommend you keep it in hand at all times.

AIC Offers Out of this World Meals for the Gastronomically Inclined

It's been said that the true path to the stars invariably passes through the kitchen. The Advanced Imaging Conference understands this and has always placed an emphasis on making sure our attendees are well fed- this year is no exception!

For example, you'll be treated to a hot breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and our lunches won't be served from a box! We've also added a Friday night dinner for those who registered to attend the Weekend sessions.
